Qualifications, in service of the work.
Credentials matter here for one reason: they are what allow the reasoning behind your training to be trustworthy. What follows is the background that supports the service, listed plainly.
- BSc, Behavioural Neuroscience
- Completed — the study of how behaviour, learning and physiology inform one another.
- MSc, Biostatistics
- Currently in progress — study design, evidence quality and statistical inference.
- [Personal Training Certification — to be confirmed]
- Certifying body to be confirmed.
Evidence doesn't arrive as a plan. Someone has to read it properly first.
Behavioural neuroscience trained me to think about adaptation and habit as physiological processes rather than matters of willpower. Biostatistics adds the other half of the picture: how a study was designed, how large an effect really was, and whether a finding says anything at all about the person standing in front of me.
That is the actual differentiator here. Most conflicting fitness advice isn't dishonest — it's over-generalised, drawn from populations you don't belong to. Being able to read the evidence critically is what makes it possible to hand you a plan with reasoning attached, instead of another confident opinion.
Personal training is where this work is now heading, and coaching itself isn't new to me: teaching a physical skill well, one person at a time, has been part of my experience for years.
- Tennis instruction
- Prior teaching experience on court: breaking a skill into steps a player can actually repeat.
- Strength development
- Progressive loading for people new to it and people returning.
- Mobility and movement quality
- Range built through training, not around it.
- Conditioning
- Capacity work matched to the demands of your actual week.
- Confidence in the gym
- Knowing what to do, why, and in what order.
